What is PlayClub?

PlayClub is a programme of projects based around theatre, story-telling and play writing.

Regular PlayClub meetings have focused on artists development.

A group of Theatre Practitioners meet twice a month to read-through and discuss a wide variety of published plays, and share, work-shop and develop new writing. The aims for these meetings are as follows:

PlayClub aims to bring enjoyment to the experience of reading/learning playsPlayClub wants to inspire and stimulate you to write and develop your uniqueness as a writerPlayClub is a creative space to discover, develop, challenge and be challengeNetworkSharing and exchanging information on jobs, shows, theatre and writing projects, bursaries and competitionsReviewing and discussing current theatre productionsActing as a library; sharing play texts

There is a core group of members and a wider pool of associates. The project has been running successfully for one and a half years.

PlayClub Artist Development is aimed at developing new play-writes (regardless of age specifics) and those who have had previous success and have hit a wall in terms of no longer being able to be marketed as a ‘new writer’.

Who can join?

Anyone who is a theatre professional or aiming to be.

Other PlayClub activities include:

Community Heritage Drama Project Story-Catching. This is a current new and exciting story-telling project, which aims to develop and promote cross cultural and generational community cohesion . Please contact Aisling if you would like to know more or get involved.
